Climbing the Mount Everest of Life
Currently I am reading a book called “The Perfect Mile” which is the story of 3 famous ‘milers’ in their quest to break the 4 minute mile back in the 1950’s – Roger Bannister (U.K), John Landy (Australia) and Wes Santee (USA). Their willpower, courage, resilience, endeavour, planning, strategy and focus enabled them to overcome enormous difficulties and set backs and achieve a feat which was thought for centuries to not be achievable.
The key to the success of these 3 amazing world champions was their enormous and powerful level of self belief in their own net worth, which enabled them to achieve their goal.
Following is a page of my first book titled “Winning with Wisdom”
Achieving your goals requires more planning than you think. It’s easy to get out of bed every day and let life pass you by while you just wander along aimlessly, living for the moment. Sure, that’s okay sometimes. But all too often we don’t set ourselves a plan in order to get where we want to go.
It’s a bit like not having a shopping list when we go to the supermarket. You know what happens then. We buy lots more than we plan to and forget items that we really need.
Supermarkets know only too well that their sales increase when the man of the family, who does not normally shop, visits their store. He tends not to have a list and touches and buys more products.
Another interesting analogy of seeking your goal without a plan comes from the story Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll:
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” ‘That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,’ said the cat. “I don’t care where,” said Alice. ‘Then it doesn’t matter which way you go’ said the cat.
Remember, set your course, stick to it and you will arrive at your destiny in life.
So work on your self belief and self worth and you too could be the success you want to be.
I hope this message inspires you to achieve your goals in 2016.
